Floor Sitting Room The Lanai From the second floor lanai, you have a fine view back to the Kailua
Pier. This is the location of the capital of Hawai`i from 1812 to 1819.
After uniting the Hawai`ian Island, King Kamehameha the Great moved the
capital to Kailua-Kona. The site he chose is known as Kamakahonu - or
"Eye of the Turtle" and his personal temple, Ahu`ena
Heiau, has been reconstructed on the site.
